Bastille Day Celebration at Metro Wines on Charlotte Street

Asheville Sister Cities Saumur France Committee( http://ashevillesistercities.org/joomla/) joins Metro Wines and Slow Food Movement to commemorate Bastille Day on July 14th from 3pm to 6pm at Metro Wines. $5 donation to benefit the Slow Food Movement.

The event begins with a glass of champagne to toast French Independence, finger foods provided by Saumur Sister Cities, Silent Auction, and a presentation on the history of this day. $2 a glass for French whites and reds poured by radio personality and Slow Food Movement http://slowfoodasheville.org) Board of Directors Member, Bob Bowles.

Bastille Day commemorates the storming of the Bastille, a French prison on July 14, 1789. This act of defiance marked the beginning of the French Revolution and served notice that the people would no longer tolerate the absolute power of Louis 16th.
